Recommended External Hard Drives

I'm not an expert with hard drive data storage. I asked Ben Potter at Gillware Data Recovery. More. He manages one of the best data recovery companies in the country. I asked him to recommend a brand/model of external hard drive for my image storage. My thinking was that he would know what brands he works on the most, you know, the ones that are always failing. I would avoid those. So, maybe my question wasn't "What the best?", more like "What brand and models should I avoid?"

He recommended an internal drive combined with a external housing. The drive is called - WD New Blue 15mm Internal Hard Drive for TiVo Bolt/Server/mini-ITX/Desktop/Machine 2.5-inches Model WD20NPVZ. Housing - ICY DOCK 2.5 SATA HDD & SSD USB 3.0 Hot Swap External Drive Enclosure ( ToughArmor MB991U3-1SB). When both items arrived I slipped the internal drive into the housing - simple. This drive has preformed flawlessly after six months of use. I bought another one already a few weeks back. Both drives preforming as designed.

I just thought you might want to know what's working for me. Perhaps my research and experience combined with Ben's recommendation would help you.
